Imaginary Girl (spider & snake)

“Get in,” she said, pulling up in her neon yellow Tesla. I knew that I was already dead when I saw her smiling up at me. It was my last rational thought. Which was more frightening the black widow or the rattlesnake? She was obviously poison, but I was trapped in some kind of tractor beam, pulling me straight into the heart of her. I noticed the Tesla was filthy. Like she had been eating a lot of drippy chocolate ice cream on the white seats. Is that blood?

“Can we ride in the back seat?” I asked.

“What, are you crazy?”

“I mean, it’s driving by itself, what’s the big deal?”

“It’s watching my eyes you idiot.”

I didn’t like that tone. I no longer felt safe in the Tesla. I tried to open my door but the car was going about 50 mph, so it was locked. “I need to get out,” I said.

I think it was the yellow flower in her hair that initially distracted me from seeing the approaching shitstorm. But, here I was. Here we are. “I don’t want to go,” I said.

“It’s fine, baby,” she said, taking my hand. “We’re gonna have fun.”

I might be able to jump at the next stoplight.
