poetry
is not
a craft that is in demand
we still teach it in schools
ask elementary kids to give it a try
with no rhyme or reason
to the usefulness
and no real way to justify
the art of less
as a vocation
you could go into advertising
journalism
and still
parents are amazed
by the scattered words
with a crayon illustration
that captures
love
growth
loss
god, even

what’s taken out
is miscellaneous
