waco famous – a screenplay by john oakley mcelhenney

The bones of a melancholy comedy with indie pop music elements and ambition. A collision between Crazy Heart, Lost in Translation, and Nick the Lounge Singer, filtered through Austin, Waco, NYC, and Hollywood in neon and regret.

The biggest question is: what is the one thing he has never tried?

He has already chased fame twice.

NYC failed.
Hollywood failed.

A third attempt at fame is dramatically weak because it’s the same story again.

The way out is not success.

The way out is transformation.
