DEEP DIVE VAULT < Check out our newest addition THE VAULT created by NOTEBOOK LM from Google.
Some days it’s still hard for me to go to work. My schedule moves each week, mornings, evenings, early mornings (opening the store), and later evenings (closing the store). It’s not always easy to get motivated for being a cashier or bag boy, or a parking lot cart guy in the yellow vest.
Coffee helps me open up my carburetor each morning. I know I’m sliding into depression when coffee doesn’t smell great. Like a kiss in the morning for my mind and energetic body. And the more you put into it, the more you get out of it. I’ll admit to being a *pod* guy, but I do use PEETS Major Dickesons Blend, delicious. Then it’s what you put in it. I am simple. Whole milk to a creamy beige. Then, if I need a little boost, I add a dollop of organic maple syrup.
This discussion makes me think I might like to reenergize my coffee routine. Grinding fresh coffee beans is another part of the process that gets my juices flowing. I’m sure I’m inhaling some of the coffee bean dust, but it’s the smell that sends me. And gives me an early warning of a slide to the dark side that I can use to reorient my priorities around: healthy food, exercise, good sleep, and joy. The joy part is self-generated, as you know.
So, this is really about being in a hard place and keeping my mindfulness in charge, instead of my anger or spite. I don’t want to be in this place, I can assure you. But I do love the community that forms around a good organic grocery store. The people in the store, the people who work at the store, they are my people.
That’s the lesson. I have been reintroduced to my tribe. The Organic Community. Hmmm. Farmers’ markets might be next. Who knows. [Listen to the Deep Dive explore the concepts of The Happy Cashier.]
The hope I see in others
becomes the hope I have for myself,
my life, and my own journey.
