Nothing is going to prepare you for how far we’re about to go down the proverbial rabbit hole. “Alice,” said the young boy, “We’re going in together. I am not leaving your side.”
The short story came from a fractured and distressed human mind. The next spasm or two were fueled by the author’s delight with the flooding of ideas. “El Mosquitotito!” was born. First, a short Beckett-ish play. A musical has been sketched out. And today, we’re caught on the whims of the writer again, shooting like a misguided laser at gaming platforms and building an interface for the tablet flight controls. I might as well show you.
Silly, right?
There’s more. The movie script is under development, the IP has been acquired by Sony Entertainment for all online and broadcast rights to the El Mosquitotito universe. A graphic novel is nearly complete. Ana de Armas has been attached to the film project, currently seeking funding based on a 10-minute proof of concept. I wish I could show you that, but I’m bound by Sony’s NDA. I’m probably going to have to unpublish this.

There’s nothing about this idea beyond this: skippy jon jones and his band of chimichangas, Leisure Suit Larry in the land of the lounge lizards, and Altered Carbon’s ai hotel and “meth” developments. Humans have become gods. Mosquitotito is here to take them down a notch. Even the meths suffer mosquito bites.
How will you solve the riddle of the hot tub? Can you find your way into the house? Avoid the birds and spider webs. Rain is heard rumbling in the distance. The skies are dark. Tasty food is clearly moving around inside the house. Can you feed before you pass out? After you master the flight > feed > survive thread, it’s time to solve for the overarching goal: nirvana.
It is unclear from the game’s promo material or online (substack.mosquitotito) commentary what the goal means. Is nirvana death? Is death nirvana, like a transition to a better world? Does nirvana mean being reborn as mosquitotito again?
Mosquitotito literally means baby mosquito in some bastardized form of Spanish and Italian. Can you find the soft spot on the back of the older man’s neck? What is the secret to finding the hole in the screens of the back porch? What horrors and tasty animals are inside the house. Sim-ant, but with a mosquito.
Obviously, there is a lot to work out. Sony is pressing to have that hot new director take a turn at design and script integration with the movie and streaming series being planned. What is the next plane of evolution for a mosquito? Discover your own goal as you pilot a short-lived mosquito from birth to *splat.*
