the perfect woman for me jogs by in three minute intervals
sometimes in groups
i should take up running again
i think
wondering how her freshly showered hair smells
or what the fine hair on lower back feels like
the flip of course is me
older and wiser and rounder
it’s more of an appreciation than a loneliness
i am not lonely
alone yes
seeking no
i wonder if an abundance of ink always indicates trauma
or just whimsy wrapped with pain into iconography
my own black and red dragon tattoo
is merely a temporary mock-up that I can apply painlessly
i’m happy to talk about my brand
and the fantasy placement on my left inner forearm

befriending the beast is the only way forward
companionship is the ninja move
a jump into the saddle
finding balance in the furious speed and flames
making peace with the torched villages of friends and lovers
