As you already know, if you’ve been following along, I did not end up here on purpose.

Often life throws us curveballs. This detour in my masterplan was certainly a setback. The transformation I’ve experienced over the last 60 days has been full of highs, lows, worries, and aspirations. This creative experiment is my attempt to both give voice to the journey, but also to learn from my own struggles. I’m hoping to invite you into my story at this moment.

“Wow, Steve, I haven’t seen you in forever! How are you doing?”

It was a genuine enthusiasm I stretched out to my career coach/therapist from almost thirty years ago.

I was happy to see him. I was no longer struggling with my identity as a humble cashier. [Oh hell, I’m still struggling with the gruling 8-hour shifts on my feet.] In the course of our three minute transaction Steve told me a bit about his “retired” life. “We’re traveling a lot. It’s great.”

I may not make *retirement* anytime soon, but some of that is a decision. I could retire now. However, I aspire to a more creative path. More energy. More projects. I’m not ready to retreat my lifestyle into retrograde. In fact, I’m engaging my main thrusters again, and last night I played with my band again, for the first time in years.

My story is bending and changing, but that’s part of life. I can’t predict all of the coming escapades, but I can stay strong, healthy, and actively engaged as an offset to growing older and dimmer. “I will not go gentle into this long night.”

You found me here at the intersection of organic groceries, the hippie lifestyle, and community of people working on their physical health through nurturing foods and healthcare products.

I occasionally see previous antagonists. At first I was ashamed at where I stood both metaphorically and physically. “How did I end up here?” is the question I had to keep asking myself in the first few weeks. Today, I ask, “How can I support my energy for this upcoming shift today?”

I won’t get into it today, but there is trouble brewing in my career path here, but I hope it’s a mere misunderstanding, miscommunication. More later.

“Hi, I’m happy to see you. Did you find everything you were looking for?”

becomes the hope I have for myself,
my life, and my own journey.
