and i hope you have
you may have noticed
some gaps
i mean
if you’re a poet
for example
the “e”
does not fit in a matrix or excel spreadsheet
no matter how fast or powerful the transformers
the e
is lacking
the robot has no mind
only math
maps of patterns algorithms and json
a cold soup
of numbers and letters
letters as numbers
and zeros
ones
…
and
that’s it
a smile does not compute as a one or a zero
the death of a mother
beloved cat
or

how can math account for sadness
or computers
fathom
existential longing
love
joy
delusions of grandeur
joi d vivre
the warmth of a good tequila

nothing prepares you to be human
you just are
parents and grandparents
suggest patterns and trajectories
yet
even my 23 year old son
knows more than all the ai llms combined
maybe not about responsibility
not about love
he does get loss
and pain
loneliness

ai does not struggle with emotions
it cannot feel pain or empathy
rumi is merely a sequencing style
for putting letters in order
of poetry
love
