i hold you in my hand – a poem

i hold you in my hand – a poem

how did i not see this
how did you slip inside
before the alarm bells chimed
before my heart was closed up
before i lost my hope

she stands beside me
as a fragment fallen from god
i can worship here
i can find joy
solace
tears
whoops of laughter

i can see everything
ahead
as in a dream
or is it my own projection
and
hyper-optimism for a love that lasts

is it real

of course i can see my own delusion
and how i work up a lather
at a peek of lace
a stolen smile
a secret kiss

i hold in my hand
the key to the universe
quivering
alert
engorged

and she is all mine
for this moment
she

is

all

i

need
